One of the most popular and ever-growing ways of to transport cargo is semi trucks. Also, commonly known as dry vans, these trucks haul a huge majority of the countries freight. The most common type of cargo control method for semis is the e-track system. E track when teamed with the correct straps can be the most secure, reliable, and economical way to tie down loads while in transit. These straps are commonly referred to as e-track straps or e-track tie downs. When looking into buying straps for e-track one must consider a few different points. E-track straps come in two different types and both can be beneficial for the user.

Cambuckle e-track straps are the easiest to use, but they are still very secure. Other common names for cam buckle straps are “cinch strap” or “pull-tight straps”. They are dubbed these alternative names because they work just as the names state. To work these straps one must click the e-track fittings into the e-track on both ends of the strap and pull the slack out of the strap and the tie down will then be secure. Cam straps are great for fragile cargo because you control the tension by how tight you pull. The way this works, the cambuckle has a handle that is held in place by a heavy duty spring that holds the cam closed on the webbing of the strap. The cam also has “teeth” on the bottom side of the release that will not allow the webbing to slip while in use. These straps are the most simple to use out of all the e track tie downs.

The second style of tie downs for e-track are the ratchet e-track straps. Ratchet straps in general are a very popular and secure method to tie down cargo, motorcycles, treestands, and much more, and the world of dry van hauling is no exception. These straps provide maximum security along with a higher weight capacity than the cambuckle style tie downs. To work these you clip the e-track fittings in the sidewalls just as you did with the previous style, pull the slack out, then pump the handle on the ratchet that will turn the mandril and roll the strap in the ratchet to tighten the tie down.
