Tie downs have become the easiest and most widely used fashion to tie down cargo, treestands, atv’s and motorcycles, and many other items whether it be in a pickup truck or a big rig. Out of the two major styles of tie down straps, cambuckle straps and ratchet straps, the ratchet strap has become the strap of choice for many users. Although, it may not be the quickest to use, ratchet straps far exceed any other tie down when it comes to security and stability.

Ratchet Straps come in a variety of sizes such as 1”, 2”, 3”, and 4”. The most common strap sizes are 2” and 4” with 1” not far behind. RatchetStraps.com has straps for almost every application and can custom make them to fit your needs.

The most popular size straps are 1” and 2” for the typical user and 2” and 4” for the flatbed trucker. The main thing you want to look at when choosing a strap is the weight limit that you need the strap to hold. 1” straps can be rated at 500 pounds, 833 pounds, and 1,100 pounds for working load limit depending on the type of assembly you choose, and are commonly used for motorcycle tie downs, treestands straps, packaging and sipping purposes, and many other everyday applications. 2” straps are rated at 915 pounds, 1,466 pounds, and 3,335 pounds working load limit depending on the assembly and are more commonly used for flatbed trucking, many home applications, and for common ratcheting tie downs. With a ratchet that is a foot long and weighing about 8 pounds, the 3” and 4” ratchet straps are for heavy duty flatbed trucking and heavy hauling almost exclusively. These straps are rated at 5,000 pounds, 5,400 pounds, and 5,670 pounds working load limit depending on the assembly and are the strongest ratchet straps available.

Furthermore, tie downs can be categorized by what attachment point you may need. Common attachments for ratchet straps are the vinyl s-hook, wire hook (double j-hook), flat hooks, and snap hooks. However, they are not limited to these hooks. We can make straps with a lot of attachments and multiple attachments if need be. Car tie downs commonly use snap hooks along with axle straps for security and strength, while many home uses would merit the use of the s-hooks or even just loops sewn into the ends.

Ratchet straps are a great tool to aid in tying down cargo while in transit. We have the straps that you need to fit your application. If you do not see them on the website give us a call and we will help you get the straps you need at an affordable price and a timely manner.
